The Organization for Promotion of Tourism in SHIKOKU has been promoting sustainable tourism initiatives in the Shikoku region since 2020, particularly initiatives based on the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria (GSTC), an international standard that serves as a benchmark for sustainability in the tourism sector, and the Japan Sustainable Tourism Standard for Destinations (JSTS-D), published by the Japan Tourism Agency in 2020.
This page introduces the sustainable tourism initiatives and experience programs implemented by members of the promotion network, alongside regular updates. We hope that the information will serve as a useful reference for travel agencies and other members of the community who are interested in sustainable tourism.
