The town of Kuma Kogen, where there are few artificial lights, is ideal for viewing the beautiful starry sky, and the Milky Way can be seen in summer.
The observatory is equipped with one of the largest reflecting telescopes in Shikoku, with an aperture of 60 cm and light-collecting power 7,000 times greater than that of the naked eye, allowing you to observe planets, nebulae, and star groups in the distance. See stars you have never seen before and dream about the universe.
The observatory also offers a planetarium, with programs that change with the seasons, introducing stories and myths about the night sky in each of the four seasons. Visitors can also feel the importance of preserving the universe and the earth's environment in order to keep the stars beautiful forever.
In the surrounding area, visitors can feed and interact with alpacas, which can only be raised in cool climates. Visitors can also try their hand at fishing in the pond and learn about the value of life.
