Ino-cho Paper Museum

いの町紙の博物館
Tosa washi, a traditional craft of Kochi Prefecture, is thought to have been produced more than 1,000 years ago, and Ino-cho is one of the three Yamato paper production areas in Japan.
The Ino-cho Paper Museum has easy-to-understand displays of the history of washi and the process from raw materials to the production of Tosa washi, with panels and actual products, as well as demonstrations by craftsmen of the traditional technique of nagashi-suki (screening), and the popular ‘tesuki (handmade)’ experience where visitors can make coloured paper and postcards. Tosa washi for painting, printmaking and arts and crafts, as well as various other paper products, are also on sale. Events using Tosa washi, such as the Night Paper Exhibition (usually held in November), will also be held here so be sure to check it out!
