Mount Akaboshi (hatataki Falls, Tamasudare Falls)

赤星山(機滝、玉簾滝)
Mount Akaboshi (1,453 m), towering over Shikokuchuo City in Ehime Prefecture, is a renowned peak known for its abundant nature and beautiful valleys. It is also called “Iyo-Kofuji.”
Its greatest attraction is the crystal-clear stream and numerous famous waterfalls of the “Oji Valley,” which runs alongside the hiking trail. Starting with “Hatataki Falls,” whose delicate flow resembles white cloth being woven, and the elegant “Tamasudare Falls,” which cascades down the rock face like a bamboo blind, a succession of unique waterfalls—including Beni Falls—appear one after another, soothing the hearts of visiting hikers.
In spring, delicate dogtooth violets and Akebono azaleas bloom near the summit, while in autumn, the valley’s autumn foliage creates a stunning contrast with the waterfalls. This charming mountain offers breathtaking views throughout the seasons, allowing visitors to enjoy the babbling brook and an abundance of negative ions.
