SAKAWA TOY MUSEUM KOCHI

佐川おもちゃ美術館
Nurturing children's sensitivity through wooden toys
SAKAWA TOY MUSEUM KOCHI is a new type of art museum attached to “Makinosan Roadside Station Sakawa” in Sagawa Town, Kochi Prefecture. opened in July 2023, the museum aims to nurture children's sensibilities through wooden toys based on the concept of “wood education". The interior of the museum is richly decorated with wood, giving visitors a sense of the warmth of wood. The museum has a variety of toys and play equipment, and children can enjoy the feel and smell of wood as they play.
Since Sakawa is the birthplace of Dr. Tomitaro Makino, the “father of botany,” the museum also offers “planting education” programs to familiarize children with plants and “vocational education” programs to deepen their understanding of the forestry industry through interaction with people involved in the forestry industry.
This is a place where not only children but also adults can enjoy themselves together. We encourage you to visit this museum where you can nurture your creativity and sensitivity while feeling the warmth of wood.
