From this unique modern architectural facility, you can enjoy the diverse expressions of the Seto Inland Sea landscape.
A new landmark born atop Mount Yashima in 2022. This approximately 200-meter-long corridor-style facility, built to follow the terrain, features unique undulations and curves.
The glass-walled structure offers an open feel, while the roof tiles use Aji stone, whose appearance changes with the light, creating a captivating effect. Visitors can stroll through the courtyard, harmoniously integrated with the surrounding natural environment, and enjoy panoramic views of Takamatsu city and the beautiful archipelago of the Seto Inland Sea from the observation deck. The complex also includes an exhibition space featuring a panoramic art installation themed on the Genpei War, and a café corner offering sweets inspired by Yashima's tanuki (raccoon dogs). Souvenirs, including cookies developed jointly by local confectionery makers and Kagawa University, are also popular.
In 2024, it received the BCS Award, given to outstanding architectural works.
