Hyakken Falls

百間滝
Located in Kamikatsu Town, Katsuura District, Tokushima Prefecture, “Hyakken Falls” is a renowned waterfall that boasts one of the largest scales and drops in the prefecture. Its name derives from the waterfall’s majestic appearance, which seems as though it stretches for “100 ken” (approximately 180 meters), and it is counted among the “Tokushima 88 Scenic Spots” selected by the residents of Tokushima Prefecture.
The main attraction is the dynamic sight of the water cascading down a rugged cliff surrounded by virgin forest in three distinct tiers. The sight of the water crashing down with a thunderous roar, sending up a spray of white foam, is truly awe-inspiring, and the area exudes a mysterious atmosphere worthy of being called a hidden paradise. In particular, during early summer, when the lush new greenery stands out, and in autumn, when vibrant autumn leaves color the rock face, visitors can enjoy a stunning contrast with the flowing water.
The walking path leading to the waterfall is lined with moss-covered rocks and clear streams, and simply walking along it feels like a cleansing experience for the soul. Bathed in the negative ions generated by the abundant natural surroundings, this is one of Kamikatsu Town’s premier power spots where you can feel the powerful energy of the water firsthand. The view from below is stunning, of course, but the contrast with the fresh greenery and autumn foliage is also exceptionally beautiful.
