A train that reproduces a cute steam locomotive
This is a reproduction of steam locomotive that served Matsuyama citizens for 67 years from 1888.
The train is nicknamed the “Bocchan Train” because the main character in the novel “Bocchan” by Soseki Natsume* rode on it.
*Natsume Soseki is a famous novelist known to all Japanese. In the past, his portrait was also depicted on the Japanese 1,000 yen bill.
The steam locomotive used to run with black smoke, but has been restored as a diesel locomotive.
Visitors can enjoy the atmosphere of those days while taking in the scenery from downtown Matsuyama to Dogo Onsen.
