Tatsukushi Marine Park

Located on the coast of Tosashimizu at the southernmost tip of Kochi, “Tatsukushi Marine Park” was the first marine national park designated in Japan. Its warm waters year-round are home to a wide variety of corals, fish, and shellfish, making it a popular diving spot. The coastline is lined with unique rock formations and scenic wonders shaped by years of exposure to wind and waves, and its breathtaking scenery has made it a popular tourist destination. Among these is a stretch of coastline known as “Minokoshi Coast,” which is said to have been named after the Buddhist monk Kukai, who, overwhelmed by its vastness and rugged terrain, was unable to survey the entire area and thus “left some parts unseen.” Visitors can enjoy the beautiful marine scenery both above and below the water.
