JR Shimonada Station
JR Shimonada Station was known as Japan’s closest station to the sea until the construction of national highway 378 “Yuyake-koyake Line” along the shore. Nonetheless the station is still very popular with railway fans, and is a favourite location for shooting films and TV dramas, and was famously used to advertise Japan Rail’s Seishun 18 Ticket. The views are spectacular at any time: from the sunshine sparkling on the surface of the sea during the day, to the glowing sunset over the golden sea at dusk.

Towel Museum Ichihiro = Lunch=
This is the world’s first towel museum dedicated to the art of towel manufacturing. The unique museum has much to offer including displays of intricate traditional towels, works of art made from towels, an exhibition on the towel-making process, and there is even a garden area rich with seasonal beauty. The museum café offers pleasant lunches or afternoon teas and an enticing range of original goods and local products are available in the museum shops.

Huge sand painting:Zenigata Sunae ”Kan’ei Tsuho”(famous Japanese old currency in Edo period)(View from the summit observation deck in Kotohiki Park)
Kotohiki Park is a 48 ha expanse of black pine habitat located in the Ariakehama area facing the Seto Inland Sea. In the middle of the pine forest on a white-sand beach, there is a huge sand picture with the inscription ‘Kan’ei Tshuho’.
Kan’ei Tsuho is a currency that was used in the Edo period. The sand picture is 122 m east-to-west, 90 m north-to-south, and has a 345 meter circumference.
According to legend, the picture was constructed in one night as part of an effort to welcome the local rulers in 1633. It is said that if you see the picture you will live a long and healthy life, and have no problems with money. The sand picture area is off-limits, but you can look down on it from the summit observation deck in Kotohiki Park. The nice round shape is very clear from this vantage point.
Kotohiki Park is very popular for its beautiful vistas. Sunset is particularly memorable, as well as the lighting that illuminates the sand picture at night (sunset-22:00).

The main shrine is located on top of Mt. Inazumi at an altitude of 404 meters, offering a panoramic view of Kanonji City and the beautiful Seto Inland Sea.
The torii gate of the main shrine is called the 'Tenku no Torii' which means torii gate in the sky, and was selected as one of the '88 places in Shikoku' in 2018.

Chichibugahama Beach
Chichibugahama Beach boasts a 1km-long beach which attracts many visitors every summer.
Recently, Chichibugahama has become well-known as a spot where visitors can take incredible natural mirror photos like in Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia.
If there is no wind to disturb the water surface, at low tide the sky is beautifully reflected in the tide pools that form in the sand, creating a natural mirror effect.
At sunset, the scenery becomes even more fantastic, enough to earn the title as one of the "Top 100 Sunset Spots in Japan."
We recommend that you come visit with your camera in hand.
・Please be respectful of strangers in your photographs. If someone you don’t know is in your photo, ask them for permission before using the photo on social media, etc.
・This beach has been kept clean by local volunteers for 20 years. Please take your trash home with you and do not litter.
・Be aware that the toilets by the beach are not flush-toilets.
・The beach is wet and sandy- bring rain boots (or beach sandals in summer), a towel, etc., for a more pleasant experience.
・Please be thoughtful and abide by the rules, and have fun photographing!

Kotohira-gu Shrine
This is a popular shrine, commonly known as Konpira-san. It is the head shrine of "Kotohira" or "Konpira" shrines in Japan and has been worshiped since ancient times as "the God of the Sea".
There is an extremely long staircase, consisting of 1,368 steps. The area around the shrine is crowded with many shops such as cafes, teahouses, souvenir shops and udon restaurants. You can rent a walking stick and go for a stroll or take a ride in a "kago" palanquin and enjoy the sights as you are carried around.
At the mid-way point, you will find the Main Shrine. The shrine is dedicated to many gods including the gods of agriculture, livestock, medicine and marine safety. There are wonderful paintings on the ceiling of the main shrine. On certain festival days you can see the priests and shrine maidens dancing in traditional clothes. Ritsurin Garden
Ritsurin Garden is a daimyo (feudal lord) garden, which was completed in 1745 over a period of one hundred years. Designated as a Special Place of Scenic Beauty, this spacious garden features 6 ponds and 13 landscaped hills. While strolling you can enjoy the changing landscape, therefore it is said that the variety of scenery has the attraction of "ippo ikkei" or a change in scenery with every step. In the garden there are buildings, such as Kikugetsu-tei teahouse, where you can have matcha (powdered green tea) while viewing the picturesque landscape, and the Sanuki Mingeikan (Folk Craft Museum), where Sanuki folk crafts are exhibited. You can also enjoy a ride on a Japanese boat, the “Senshu maru”.
There are approximately 300 cherry trees, mostly Somei Yoshino, and the beauty of the cherry blossoms reflected on the lake surface and the strange colors of the green pine trees are breathtaking. In addition, spring lighting will be held to coincide with the blooming of the cherry trees, and during the nighttime lighting period, special Japanese-style boat trips will be offered on Lake Kitako.
