""Sora no Sato"" is located in the cities of Mima, Miyoshi, Tsurugi, and Higashimiyoshi in the center of Shikoku, one of the best tourist regions in Japan.
In addition to nature and historical culture represented by ""OBOKE・IYA"" and ""Mt. Tsurugi・Yoshino River,"" the region has developed a unique culinary culture and traditional performing arts. The simple, warm, and good old way of life is still alive and well.
""Sora no Sato"" educational home stay families have accepted guests for more than 20 years. Many of them are located in villages on the steep slopes of mountainsides, forming a unique cultural landscape.
Students are welcomed as members of a family and collaborate in sustainable subsistence farming, such as picking tea, onions, potatoes, and millet.
They also learn how to transform harshness into abundance by cooking countryside meals together using harvested seasonal vegetables and wild plants.
【Programme Outline】
■Village entrance ceremony: Students and host families meet, then move to their homes.
■Family business experience and overnight stay experience: Experience family business, mainly agriculture, communal cooking, and overnight stay experience.
*PBL x STEM programs (as applicable): fieldwork, workshops and discussions.
■Leaving the village ceremony: Gathering from each family and transferring to a bus to go to the next destination.
・Time required for the programme: 1 night (family business experience: half day)
・Time of year: All year round
・Minimum number of participants: Basically, it's school-based.
