The City of "Washi," Traditional Japanese Paper (1-night 2-days)

Ehime and Tokushima Prefectures were at one time major hubs for the production of handmdade traditional style Japanese Paper. During this tour visitors will explore this deep seated culture of paper production via E-bike through interaction with local artisans and try their hand at making paper the traditional way.

●Highlights
・E-bike tours of the Iyo Washi and Awa Washi production areas.
・In addition to visiting kouzo fields, the raw material for washi, and the workshop of a handmade washi craftsman, visitors can try their hand at papermaking and create their own original washi.
・The tour will include "Washi no Yukibana Dyeing" and "Wajo (Japanese paper notebook) Making" to create original Washi art works that can be taken home as souvenirs.
・Participants will have the opportunity to experience calligraphy with sumi ink, which had a great influence on the development of Japanese paper, while listening to a calligrapher guide them through the process.
